Mythology

This a recent constellation, added by Lacaille in 1752. It represents a table mountain. It is a very dim constellation.

Southern Circumpolar Skies

Gamma Mensa (05h 33.8m -76°23) is a 5th magnitude class K4 star. It has an 11th magnitude companion.

A portion of the Large Magellanic Cloud lies in this constellation. More information can be found in Dorado.
